A Quick Guide to Peyronies Disease
Peyronie's disease is a condition in which scar tissue within the penis causes bent and unpleasant erections that can cause a bit of pain, not to mention embarrassment. Men's penises are all different in size and shape, simply having a bent erection is not unusual in the least, though if it is curved due to

Peyronie's disease then it will be much more noticeable than a natural curve as well as painful.

Peyronie's disease can stop a male from participating in sexual activity or can cause erectile dysfunction, a condition in which a male cannot keep an erection. For a lot of men, Peyronie's disease also triggers anxiety and stress. In some instances, medicines might help. Surgical treatment to treat Peyronie's disease is normally only suggested if the curve and pain are serious enough to stop sexual activity.

Symptoms of Peyronie's Disease
Peyronie's disease signs and symptoms may develop out of the blue or can occur slowly.
The most frequent symptoms include:

  • Erection Difficulties: Peyronie's disease might cause complications with getting or keeping an erection.
  • Reduced Penis Size: Your penis is likely to become smaller due to Peyronie's disease.
  • Pain and Discomfort: It is common to feel pain for the duration of an erection for those with Peyronie's disease. erection may also occur simply because of touch or during an orgasm.
  • Scar Tissue: Scar tissue caused by Peyronie's disease can be felt underneath the skin of the penis.
  • Major Curve of the Penis: In most cases, your penis might be bent to one side, upward, or downward, though it can also appear constricted in the center due to the accumulation of scar tissue underneath the skin. The curve caused by the Peyronie's disease might become even worse as time passes. In many men, pain in the course of erections gets better in just one to two years, however scar tissue and the curve do not. Hardly ever do both the pain and curve go away without any professional medical care.

Causes of Peyronie's Disease: The causes of this disease is said to not be entirely understood as of yet, though there are several factors that seem to be involved. It is believed that Peyronie's disease develops due to the rupturing of small blood vessels in the penis. On the other hand, not all males that have a penis injury have Peyronie's disease as genetics may play a huge role as well.

Risk Factors for Peyronie's Disease: Minimal injury to your penis do not always result in Peyronie's disease. There are many factors that can lead to poor injury healing and scar tissue formation that may be involved in Peyronie's disease, for instance:

  1. Genetics: If a member of your family has Peyronie's disease, then it is likely that you will develop it as well.
  2. Old Age: The risk of Peyronie's disease is much higher with old age. Changes within your tissues caused by aging could potentially cause them to be injured and far more unlikely to heal properly.
  3. Tissue Disorders: Males that have a connective tissue problem seem to have a much higher chance of having Peyronie's disease.

Complications of Untreated Peyronie's Disease:
Complications caused by untreated Peyronie's disease can include:

  • Trouble getting or keeping an erection
  • Failure to have sexual intercourse
  • Relationship problems due to social anxiety
  • Sexual anxiety due to the stress about your sexual capabilities or the look and feel of your penis

When to Visit Your Doctor: Call your doctor if discomfort or the curve of your penis stops you from having sexual intercourse or triggers stress and anxiety. An examination can be done to find out what treatment plan will be best for you.
